Nabra Hassanen was a 17-year-old girl from Northern Virginia. She and several friends went to get food after a late-night service at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) Center Mosque. She and her friends ran from a young man who chased them with a metal baseball bat after the group exchanged some words with him. All arrived back at the mosque — except Nabra. She was found dead on June 18. Her high school's Muslim Students Association put together a vigil, organized by Omer Gorashi. “I organized this [vigil] so that we could celebrate her life, not mourn her death,” he said.
