A bit about the artist:
Annie Idris is an illustrator and designer based in Toronto, Canada. Coming from an art and architecture background, her art reflects her interests. She works digitally as well as traditionally in ink and water colour and creates whimsical paintings for exhibitions and personalized orders. She takes inspiration from pop culture and daily life.
Badshahi mosque, Lahore
This painting is a part of an exhibition which focuses on the mosques of Pakistan. Badshahi mosque has been photographed by almost every professional photographer in Pakistan. I chose to paint it as it holds historical significance of the Mughal Empire, and I have spent some time in Lahore, which is why I feel close to it and have memories attached to it.
Faisal mosque, Islamabad
Faisal mosque is one of the only mosques in Pakistan built on modern architecture and is almost considered a wonder within Pakistan, and for that reason, I could not leave it out.
I've painted a few movies that I have enjoyed watching several times over. Three of them have been included here.
Forrest Gump
"Forrest Gump" is one of my favourite movies. It's super inspirational, and every time I watch it, I learn something new. This painting is a part of my pop culture theme.
The Green Mile
We all know Stephen King is a great writer. "The Green Mile" is one of the movies that moved me, although it's fantasy.
Behind the Candelabra
"Behind the Candelabra" is an HBO TV movie done extremely well. TV movies are usually great, but this one is unique. The actors have played exceptional roles based on real characters. Both, Matt Damon and Michael Douglas can be seen in this movie as you've never seen them.
